Eric Visser

Eric Visser has a diverse and extensive work experience in the maritime industry. Eric started their career as a Cadet Officer at Shell in 1994 and later worked as a Maritime Officer onboard a cargo vessel. Eric joined Holland America Line in 1996 as a Marine Engineer and eventually became Deputy Director HR for Nautical/Technical Operations. During their time at Holland America Line, they also served as the Director of Fleet Workforce Management and Director of Fleet Global Regulatory & Training.

After leaving Holland America Line, Eric worked as the Director of Marine Operations at Great Lakes Feederlines before joining the Washington State Department of Transportation as the Director of Marine Engineering Operations. Eric then established their own company, BBI Marine LLC, providing vessel registration and representation services.

Currently, Eric is working as the Senior Director of Maritime Operations and People at Holland America Line, responsible for strategic planning, budget management, and talent acquisition. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of maritime operations, compliance, and maintenance.

Eric Visser attended the University of Washington - Michael G. Foster School of Business in 2008-2009, where they completed the Executive Development Program. Eric then pursued their Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences from 1992 to 1996.

In terms of certifications, Eric obtained a Marine Surveyor certification from Lloyd's Maritime Academy in 2020. In 2009, they earned the Company Security Officer (ISPS) certification from Transport Canada - Transports Canada. Eric also holds the Chief Engineer (Unlimited) certification from Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport, although the specific year of obtaining that certification is unknown.
