Jose Alvarez Arregui

Jose Alvarez Arregui has a diverse work experience in the field of building physics and energy efficiency. Jose started their career in 2009 as a Project Engineer at GID, where they worked on the mechanical and electrical projects for an office building. In 2010, they worked as an Energy Auditor at ESCAN, conducting energy audits and promoting energy-saving measures in residential buildings.

From 2012 to 2014, Jose worked as an Energy Efficiency Engineer at Nottingham Energy Partnership, where they completed energy audits and designed energy management projects for non-domestic buildings. Jose also served as an Energy Assessor, creating energy efficiency reports and certificates.

In 2014, they joined Strutt & Parker as an Energy Efficiency Engineer, providing advice on energy efficiency processes and conducting energy audits for buildings. In 2015, they joined WSP as a Senior Building Physics Engineer, responsible for energy and carbon modeling, thermal comfort analysis, and BREEAM, LEED, and WELL certification.

During their time at WSP, they held various roles, including Associate Building Physics Engineer and Chartered Principal Building Physics Engineer. Jose led Energy & Sustainability projects, undertook thermal and carbon modeling, and provided support for BREEAM certification.

Currently, Jose is working at Hollis as a Senior Associate and Head of Building Physics.

Jose Alvarez Arregui has a diverse education history in the field of industrial engineering and energy efficiency. Jose obtained a Master's Degree in Energy Efficiency and Sustainability in Industrial Plants and in Building Design from the Universitat Jaume I, which they pursued from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, they completed a Degree in Industrial Technical Engineering specializing in Mechanics from the Universitat Jaume I, graduating in 2009.

In 2008 and 2009, Jose attended the ISEL - Instituto Superior De Engenharia De Lisboa, where they pursued a Degree in Industrial Technical Engineering specializing in Mechanics.

In addition to their formal education, Jose has obtained several certifications to enhance their professional expertise. Jose became a Chartered Member of CIBSE (CEng) in June 2019, earning recognition from the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers. Jose is also certified as a Passive House Designer/Consultant by the Passive House Institute, a BREEAM Accredited Professional (BREEAM AP) by BRE, and holds a RESET Air AP certification from RESET. Furthermore, Jose attained a NABERS UK Certification from NABERS in August 2022.
