Murtuza Lakdawala

Murtuza Lakdawala has a diverse work experience in the financial sector. Murtuza started their career in KPMG LLP as a Staff Accountant and later became a Senior Accountant. In this role, they gained experience in leading teams and managing audit engagements for various clients. Murtuza then moved on to Equity Financial Trust Company, where they served as an Assistant Controller responsible for financial reporting, payroll, and budgeting.

Following that, Murtuza worked at ResMor Trust Company as a Manager of External Reporting, where they prepared financial statements and handled stock-based compensation planning. Murtuza continued their career at MCAN Mortgage Corporation as an Assistant Controller, where they were responsible for financial statement preparation and served as the main contact for external audits.

At Starlight Investments, Murtuza held the role of Controller, overseeing the review of multiple entity journal entries, monthly and quarterly income statements, and balance sheets. Murtuza also supervised the work of the accounting manager and their staff. Subsequently, they joined the Ontario Securities Commission as an Assistant Controller, managing the I.C.F.

Currently, Murtuza is working at Home Trust Company as a Senior Manager of Financial Reporting. In this role, they are responsible for internal and external financial statements, consolidation, and reporting. Murtuza utilizes various tools and techniques to automate processes and reduce the time required to generate financial statements.

Murtuza Lakdawala has a comprehensive education background in the field of Chartered Accountancy. In 2007, they obtained a C.P.A, C.A degree from the Institute of Chartered Accountants - Ontario Canada. Prior to this, from 2000 to 2004, they pursued a BA Honours Accounting degree at York University. Additionally, they have also attended the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, where they obtained a Certificate in Controllership in 2016.
