Matthew Cheong

Matthew Cheong is a seasoned financial professional with extensive experience in the derivatives trading and technology sectors. Currently serving as Managing Director at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited since February 2023, Matthew previously held the position of Managing Director at Goldman Sachs from January 2018 to January 2023, where responsibilities included overseeing APAC Equities and market-making operations. With prior roles at JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley, Matthew has a strong background in global technology and equities trading, having progressed from Senior Developer to Executive Director in various organizations. Educational credentials include a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and ongoing studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Matthew also completed the Financial Leaders Programme at the Hong Kong Academy of Finance and holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Stony Brook University.
