Mike Welborn

Mike Welborn retired as the president of global brand development for P.F. Chang’s China Bistro in 2019. Mike had the blind luck to invest in the first P.F. Chang’s in Scottsdale in 1993. He joined the company in 2005 and started the global business in 2009, which has grown to over 100 restaurants in 25 countries. Previously, his career was in financial services, including as chairman/CEO of Bank One Arizona and Citibank Arizona, and as a member of the executive leadership team with Bank One (now JPMorgan Chase) in Chicago. Mike has served on the HonorHealth board since 2006 and is currently its board chair. He has also served on the boards of P.F. Chang’s, Pei Wei Asian Diner and Peter Piper Pizza. Mike’s previous community board chair roles include Greater Phoenix Leadership, Greater Phoenix Economic Council, Valley of the Sun United Way and Arizona YPO and WPO. He also headed the Governor’s task force, which led to the development of a new stadium for the Arizona Cardinals. His spouse of 32 years, Patricia, serves on the Arizona State Board of Education and is board chair of a charter school for low-income and minority students. Mike and Pat enjoy active travel, hiking, biking, golf and skiing. The Welborn family has taken 19 bicycle trips around the world. Mike received his Bachelor of Arts from Johns Hopkins and his Master of Business Administration from Harvard.
