Director Of Hope College Center For Teaching And Learning Initiative at Hope College

Joanne Stewart is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in academia and research. Since June 1988, Joanne has served as the Director of the Hope College Center for Teaching and Learning Initiative, overseeing the center's development. As a Professor and Director of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Program, Joanne has led initiatives in faculty development, collaborative research, mentorship for underrepresented students in science, and outreach programs for high school students. Involvement with the Interactive Online Network of Inorganic Chemists since 2007 has enabled Joanne to develop a global community supporting research and teaching in inorganic chemistry. A sabbatical as a Visiting Academic at the University of Queensland in 2008-2009 and earlier experience as an Associate Staff Scientist at General Electric Research and Development highlight Joanne's diverse background. Academically, Joanne holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.A. in Chemistry from Kalamazoo College.
