SUMMARY

  • This position provides transportation of clients to and from the agency providing continuous observation, interaction, and role modeling to clients while maintaining safety at all times. Operates agency buses or vans in a safe, reliable, and professional manner and performs various clerical duties and documentation for these services, and to assist with office services to run efficiently and effectively.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Adheres to agency policy and procedures, CARF and DMHSAS standards and criteria, federal and state confidentiality rules and regulations, and any special funding source requirements.

  • Supports and promotes a service environment for individual in need of behavioral health and/or co-occurring services that is recovery focused, welcoming, and attentive to the needs of individuals who may have experienced trauma in their lives. Attends annual core competencies training in relationship to individuals with co-occurring disorders or who have experienced trauma in their lives.

  • Drives agency vehicles to transport clients to and from services according to schedule and routes established by Transportation Manager.

  • Demonstrates a positive, compassionate and professional attitude towards clients always. When client needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve issues appropriately utilizing Transportation Manager and clinical staff.

  • Maintains a good rapport with clients and the community

  • Immediately reports any problems observed or encountered while transporting clients as well as any problems related to the vehicle, routing or scheduling to the Transportation Manager.

  • Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.

  • Complies with local traffic regulations.

  • Ensures the safety of all passengers by requiring safety protocols are followed.

  • Reports delays or accidents. All accidents must be reported immediately and accident record completed as well as the critical incident report.

  • Reports needed repairs or calls for assistance on vehicles.

  • Inspects agency vehicles and checks gas, oil, and water before departure and completes inspection report.

  • Keeps interior and exterior of agency vehicles clean. Fuels vehicle when needed.

  • Ensures doors are locked when vehicle is parked at the end of each day and all windows are closed.

  • Completes required paperwork documenting daily mileage, number of persons transported, and any repairs or maintenance.

  • May assist in performing safety drills for the company and/or inspecting and fill First Aid boxes

  • Responsible for turning in fuel receipts in with required paperwork according to established procedures.

  • Performs administrative support functions as requested by supervisor to include but not limited to filing, stocking mail runs and reminder calls.

  • Scheduled work hours are to be determined by Transportation Manager, on as needed basis and are subject to changing needs of the agency.

  • While the hours for this position are typically normal business hours, this position may require evening or weekend hours. Must be able to work these hours when needed.

  • This job description is not meant to be all inclusive. Driving staff may be asked to fill in for other departments from time to time to assist with various tasks outside of the scope of this position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Related experience and/or training preferred but not required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must be 21 years or older, Must have a current valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and a good driving record.
  • Must meet HOPE's insurance requirements.
  • Required to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR Certifications.
  • This position subject to pre-employment, random and other drug and alcohol testing requirements contained in the policy manual.
