Sherry-Lea Bloodworth

SVP, Community & Economic Development at Hope Credit Union

Sherry-Lea Bloodworth Botop is the Senior Vice President of Community and Economic Development for Hope Enterprise Corporation, based in Birmingham, Alabama. She has extensive experience in environmental and social resilience, philanthropy, advocacy and policy, and community development. She has designed, implemented and led national initiatives including the National Resilience Initiative, a partnership with the Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities and the American Institute of Architects. She has worked with numerous foundations including the Oprah Winfrey Foundation, Ford Foundation, Kresge Foundation and federal partners including the HUD, FEMA, USDA, and the White House. She testified before the 110th Congress about impediments in federal programs and policy following disasters.

Sherry-Lea is part of Harvard University’s National Preparedness Leadership Initiative, a former Clinton Global delegate, a George W. Bush Points of Light award recipient and was a member of the first White House Innovation Initiative as part of President Obama’s Climate Action Plan. She was Director of Community and Economic Development at the city of Fairhope and most recently held the position of Director of Public and Government Affairs with the Baldwin County Commission. A native of New Orleans, she attended Louisiana State University, then the University of Alabama.
