Mary Alicia Lyons

Mary Alicia Lyons has extensive experience in education, currently serving as a Fellow with the NC Teacher Voice Network at Hope Street Group since June 2017, while also working as a K-2 Instructional Coach at Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools since October 2008. In this role, Mary develops and leads professional development for K-5 teachers, provides coaching to K-2 educators, and facilitates peer observations and Professional Learning Communities. Previous positions include Literacy Collaborative Coach and Reading Recovery and Intervention Teacher at Durham Public Schools, as well as leadership roles in summer literacy programs. Mary holds a Master of Education in Reading Teacher Education and two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
