Tom Schimmel

Tom Schimmel has over 10 years of work experience in the field of web and software development. Tom is currently working as a Lead Developer at Hoppinger, a position they have held since September 2021.

Prior to their current role, Tom worked at Internetbureau W3S as a Lead Developer from August 2016 to September 2021. In this role, they were responsible for guiding SCRUM teams, setting up project architecture, providing technical advice on quotations, and determining the programming stack and tools to use. Tom also worked as a Developer at W3S from October 2015 to August 2016, where they contributed to various web-oriented projects for clients such as LHV, Bonusan, NIBC, and INHolland.

Before joining W3S, Tom worked at Burst as a Developer from December 2014 to October 2015. Tom was involved in software development projects for clients such as Stichting Lege Batterijen, Heineken, and Mentos, where they primarily used client- and server-side JavaScript.

Additionally, Tom has experience as a Web/Application Developer at tomschimmel.com, where they developed websites and applications, provided online marketing strategies, SEO/SEA advice, and content creation for small businesses and start-ups in the Netherlands. Tom founded this venture while studying at Delft University, and worked there from January 2012 to September 2015.

Prior to their career in web development, Tom worked as a Waiter at Tapasrestaurant Miro from July 2011 to July 2013.

Tom Schimmel completed their secondary education at Walburg College Zwijndrecht, where they earned their VWO degree with a focus on Science and Health. Later, they attended Delft University of Technology, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Industrial Design Engineering from 2009 to 2014. Additionally, they acquired a Minor Degree in Software development and design during their time at the university from 2012 to 2013.
