Owen A Bavinton

Owen A Bavinton is the current director at Horizonte Minerals. Prior to this, they worked as an independent consultant and also served on the advisory board for the British Geological Survey from January 2000 to December 2005. Owen was also an external examiner for the M Sc in Mining & Energy Finance at Imperial College, London from January 2010 to December 2012. Owen has over 40 years of experience in the mining industry, having served as the Group Head of Exploration for Anglo American plc from June 1992 to January 2010. Owen was also the CEO of AREDOR GUINEA S.A., an integrated gem diamond mining and selling company operating the Aredor diamond mine in Guinea, West Africa, from January 1986 to December 1992. Prior to that, they worked as the Regional Exploration Manager for Western Mining Corporation Ltd. (WMC) from January 1973 to December 1985 and as a mining geologist for Union Corporation of S.A. from January 1970 to December 1972. Most recently, they worked as an exploration consultant for Aminco & Associates from December 1969 to December 1971.

Owen A Bavinton studied minerals exploration at Imperial College London, where they completed their MSc DIC. Owen then went on to study economic geology at the Australian National University in Canberra, where they completed their Ph D. Finally, they completed their B Sc (Hons) in geology and mineralogy at The University of Queensland in Brisbane.
