Lydia Atieno has extensive experience in sales and account management within the hospitality and travel industry. Lydia started their career as a Tours and Travel Consultant Trainee at Speedbird Travel and Safaris in 2013, and later worked as a Tours and Travel Consultant at both Speedbird Travel and Safaris Limited and KUONI Private Safaris Limited.
In 2014, Lydia joined SafariNow as an East Africa Sales Consultant, where they contacted establishments and travel firms to make sales and facilitated the listing process on the company's website. Lydia then moved on to Jumia Group as a Key Account Manager, responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with hotels and travel firms in Tanzania, Zanzibar, Ethiopia, and Rwanda. During their time at Jumia Group, they also managed a sales team.
Lydia's next role was Territory Sales Executive at airtel, where they achieved sales targets, resolved customer issues, and provided market intelligence reports. Finally, they joined HotelOnline in 2017 as a Business Development Manager. In this role, they served as the lead point of contact for customers and managed account management for hotels and travel firms in the region. Lydia also developed sales strategies, conducted market research, and built and maintained client relationships.
Lydia Atieno received a Bachelor's degree in Tourism and Travel Services Management from Moi University. From 2009 to 2012, they attended Kenya Utalii College, where they studied Travel and Tourism Management. Additionally, Lydia has obtained several certifications from CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing. In November 2021 and July 2021, they completed courses in Marketing and Digital Strategy. In March 2022, they obtained a certificate in Digital Optimisation, and in July 2022, they obtained a certificate in The Digital Customer Experience.
