James Spouler is an experienced professional with a diverse background in various industries. James currently holds the role of Senior Artist at Hothead Games since 2022. Prior to this, James was the Owner/Operator of Mainland Woodworks from 2013 to 2021, where they specialized in CNC machined work and product development.
James also worked as a CNC Product Designer/Creative Generalist at Cool Stuff Studios from 2013 to 2017, where they were responsible for designing and fabricating large-scale theme park elements. James gained experience as a CNC Operator/Shop Assistant at Featureworx from 2014 to 2015, assisting in the design and operation of CNC machined products.
Before that, they worked as a 3D Modeller/VFX Generalist at both Lux Visual Effects Inc. (2007-2012) and Stage 3 Media, Inc. (2007). At Lux Visual Effects Inc., James produced high-resolution 3D assets for animation and compositing teams, while also programming and animating physics-based simulations. At Stage 3 Media, Inc., they focused on modelling, texture painting, rigging, and animating vehicles and sets for a live-action web series.
James Spouler began their career as a Sr. Vehicle Modeler/Rigger at Mainframe Entertainment, where they worked from 2001 to 2007. Overall, they have demonstrated expertise in CNC machining, 3D modeling, VFX, and creative problem-solving throughout their career.
James Spouler attended Vancouver Film School from 1997 to 1998, where they pursued a degree in 3D animation and digital effects.
