David Lai

David Lai has held various roles in data science and research. David is currently the Director of Data Science at Housecall Pro, where they began in October 2021. Before that, they worked at FICO as an Analytic Scientist from April 2013 to October 2021. In this role, they trained and developed models using machine learning algorithms to detect fraud and managed a team and multiple projects. Prior to FICO, they were an Assistant Research Scientist at UC San Diego from September 2011 to June 2015 and a Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Santa Cruz from September 2008 to August 2011.

David Lai earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics from Reed College from 1997 to 2001. David then pursued further education at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics in 2008.
