EVP & Chief Financial Officer at Howard Bank

Bob Carpenter comes to Howard with more than 30 years of financial services experience. Mr. Carpenter began his banking career at MNC Financial/Maryland National Bank where he held various positions in financial management in the bank over a span of 10 years. Beginning in 1993, Mr. Carpenter began working with AllFirst Bank where he spent the next 10 years ultimately becoming Executive Vice President & Controller. Allfirst bank was a $17 Billion asset regional bank until it was acquired by and merged into M&T Bank. Following his work at AllFirst, Bob went on to hold Controller positions at the Wall Street Institute International, a private equity-owned company headquarter in Baltimore and Bay Bank. Bob then joined Damascus Community Bank as Chief Financial Officer and later as acting Co-Chief Executive Officer until it was acquired by and merged into Old Line Bank. Most recently, Mr. Carpenter was the Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer for the Maryland Financial Bank, a state-chartered bankers’ bank located in Towson, Maryland.

Over his career, he has developed extensive knowledge in the areas of strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, financial analysis, internal and external management reporting and the ability to be effective from both a “big picture” and “in the trenches” perspective. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Maryland.
