Alison F. Richard

Dame Alison F. Richard, former vice-chancellor of the University of Cambridge, was trained as an anthropologist. She spent 30 years at Yale University, on the faculty, as department chair, and as provost, before going to Cambridge, where she was the first woman to serve as the chief academic officer and administrator.

Richard was elected a trustee of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in 2008.
