Zarixia Zavala-Ruiz has a diverse work experience spanning various leadership and scientific roles. Zarixia began their career at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez as a Professor of Chemistry before joining Personal Digital Health Systems, Inc. as a Consultant and Board Member. Zarixia then became a Tenured Professor of Chemistry and Co-Director of the Macromolecular X-ray Crystallography Facility at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. Following this, Zarixia worked at ZZ Coaching LLC, where they founded, owned, and served as an Executive Leadership Coach, helping leaders and businesses maximize growth potential and navigate challenges. Currently, they are working at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, where they have held various positions, including Senior Director and Director of Scientific Programs, and Senior Science Program Manager. Throughout their career, Zarixia has successfully led research labs, secured funding, published scientific articles, and implemented innovative initiatives.
Zarixia Zavala-Ruiz has an Executive Certificate in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University. Zarixia also holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biological Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. Additionally, they have obtained certifications such as the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) from the International Coaching Federation and assessments in Key Polarity Indicator, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and The Leadership Circle Profile from various institutions.
