Aaron Smith

Senior Research Staff Member at HRL Laboratories

Aaron Smith began their work experience in 2001 as a Research Assistant at the University of California, San Diego. From 2005 to 2012, they worked as a PhD Student at The University of Arizona, where they focused on maintaining and updating a laser cooling apparatus and developing techniques for quantum control of cold atomic spins. In 2012, Aaron joined HRL Laboratories, LLC as a Senior Research Staff Member, leading a team of software engineers and physicists in building software for data acquisition, analysis, simulation, and visualization. Aaron also contributed to program management and had responsibilities in customer interaction, report writing, and financial and schedule planning.

Aaron Smith completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Physics at UC San Diego from 2000 to 2005. Subsequently, they pursued a Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Arizona from 2005 to 2012.
