Matthew Young has a diverse work experience spanning various sectors. Matthew began their career in the British Army as a Regimental Officer and later served as an Executive Officer and Commanding Officer in the Royal Artillery. Matthew also held positions within the UK Ministry of Defence, including Chief of Staff and Capability Integration Lead. Matthew then transitioned to NATO Headquarters as the Head of Support Operations before joining MOD Brunei as a Principal Consultant. Matthew currently works at HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd, where they have held several roles such as Head of Utilities and Project Client Director. In their current role, they are accountable for a significant amount of civil engineering works. Overall, Matthew has accumulated valuable experience in project management, leadership, and operations.

Matthew Young completed their education as follows:

- From 2006 to 2010, they pursued an MSc in Defence Acquisition Management at Cranfield University - Cranfield School of Management.

- In 2011 and 2012, they obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Defence Studies from King's College London.

- In 2012, they completed a PGC in Strategic Leadership and Management from the Chartered Management Institute.

- Between 1992 and 1995, they earned a BA (Hons) in Geography and Environmental Studies from the University of West of England, Bristol.

- In 2022 and 2023, they are pursuing a Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) certification in Project Management from the Association for Project Management.
