Celine Herweijer is the Group Chief Sustainability Officer at HSBC. Celine was previously with Blue Marine Foundation, WE MEAN BUSINESS, and PwC.

At PwC, they were a partner and the Global Sustainability and Innovation Leader. Celine advised corporations on net zero transformation and to build resilience and commercial value from sustainability and technological disruption. Celine also led PwC's work on Tech for Good, including an Accelerator for tech ventures with positive impact and the 4IR for the Earth initiative in collaboration with WEF and Stanford University.

Celine is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader (YGL), a council member of WEF Global Future Councils 2014-2020, a member of the EU Digitisation and Sustainability Council, and has acted as a key advisor to the UN, G-20, OECD, WEF, UK Government, Business Commission on Sustainable Development, New Climate Economy, amongst others.

Celine Herweijer started their educational career by obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Geoscience from The University of Edinburgh. Celine then went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in M.Phil Computer Modelling from Columbia University, followed by another Master’s Degree in M.A Earth and Environmental Sciences, also from Columbia University. Herweijer then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Climate Modelling and Policy from Columbia University. After completing their Ph.D., they went on to do Executive Education at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford and Harvard Kennedy School, respectively.

They work with Colin Bell - CEO, HBEU, Michael Roberts - President & CEO, HSBC USA, and John Hinshaw - Group COO. Celine Herweijer reports to Noel Quinn, Group Chief Executive.
