Steve Urmston

Steve Urmston has a wide range of work experience in the field of frontend development and design. Steve is currently working as a Senior Frontend Engineer at hublsoft since April 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Pierbridge as a UX/Frontend Developer from September 2019 to March 2021.

Before joining Pierbridge, they were a Senior Frontend Engineer at Effective Experiments from February 2019 to August 2019. Steve'sresponsibilities included updating legacy applications using React/GraphQL and building a component library using React/Storybook.

Steve also has experience working at Bytemark where they held various roles. From November 2017 to February 2019, they worked as a Lead Frontend Developer. Steve also served as a Product Manager from June 2016 to November 2017, leading a customer-focused product team and contributing to product strategy. Prior to that, they worked as a UX Developer from January 2014 to June 2016.

Before joining Bytemark, Steve worked as an Independent Contractor as a Web & UI Designer from September 2012 to January 2014. Steve also worked at Designition Ltd as an Interaction Designer from September 2009 to September 2012, where they took on various projects and filled in gaps with design and development work.

Earlier in their career, Steve worked at Designition as a Senior Designer from June 2005 to September 2008. Steve also had a freelance web design and development role at the same company from August 2004 to June 2005.

Steve's earliest work experience was as the Owner of Clearbar from September 2003 to December 2005.

Steve Urmston obtained an MSc with Distinction in Human-Centred Interactive Technologies from the University of York in the year 2009. Prior to that, they completed their MA degree in Political Science from the University of Glasgow, a four-year program spanning from 1999 to 2003.
