Madelene Loftin is a veteran of 14 years in the classroom as a Biology teacher in Jackson, Mississippi, where she received several teaching awards including the Milken Educator Award (2007) and Outstanding Biology Teacher Award for Mississippi (2008). Mrs. Loftin also served as a teacher/coach, working with other educators to improve the quality of science instruction for all students. Moving to Huntsville in 2009, she joined the Educational Outreach team for the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology where she currently serves as the Director of Educator Professional Learning. Loftin has also served in multiple leadership roles in science education. Most recently she served as the Region VI Coordinator for the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT) and as the Membership chair the Alabama Science Teachers Association (ASTA).
