Mona Z. Smith

Mona Z. Smith is an accomplished nonprofit professional with over 30 years of experience in strategic communications, fundraising, and arts education. Currently serving as the Strategic Communications Manager for the Hudson Highlands Land Trust since October 2018, Mona oversees brand messaging and storytelling across various platforms. In addition to this role, Mona has worked as an independent consultant, utilizing expertise in nonprofit management across diverse sectors, including education and performing arts. Previous positions include leadership roles at Mainspring Arts Cooperative, Half Moon Theatre, and Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, where significant contributions to marketing, fundraising, and program development were made. Mona holds a Master of Fine Arts from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
