Carla Castillo

Carla C. Castillo is a seasoned professional in sustainable development and community engagement, currently serving as Deputy Executive Director and Clean Energy Communities Coordinator at Hudson Valley Regional Council since August 2016. With extensive experience in promoting energy efficiency and clean energy actions, Carla works closely with municipalities throughout the mid-Hudson region. As Chairperson of the Conservation Advisory Council for the Town of Cornwall since March 2015, Carla directs sustainable projects to enhance environmental awareness. Additional roles include serving as a Sustainability Advisor for various local organizations and municipalities, and previously holding positions such as Community Engagement Director at New Kensington CDC, Community Outreach Manager for Recyclebank, Project Manager at Reinvestment Fund, and Project Manager at Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority. Carla holds a Master's degree in International Development and Appropriate Technology/City and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's degree in Latin American Studies from UCLA.

The Hudson Valley Regional Council was established in 1977 as an organization of county governments comprising Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties. It is one of 650 such councils in the United States that in addition to providing a regional perspective, offer planning, education & outreach, and advocacy for the communities they serve.
