Richard Macphail

As Head of Social Housing and Partner in the Commercial Property team, Richard acts for a wide range of clients and advises on all aspects of commercial property law in both private and public sectors. He is known for quality of service and his ability to apply technical legal expertise with a practical and commercial focus.

With extensive legal experience, Richard advises social housing providers, investors, and property developers on complex and high-value development work, including land acquisitions, option agreements, development agreements, package deals, planning agreements and infrastructure agreements. Richard leads on the firm’s work with communities to ensure that social value remains a key priority in all our activities.

Richard regularly delivers training sessions and seminars to clients and at conferences on matters relating to property development and disposals and is a member of the business support group for the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Outside of work, he enjoys surfing, rowing and cycling and is a member of the Penarth Rowing Club committee.
