Elizabeth Calvin

Senior Advocate, Children's Rights Division at Human Rights Watch

Elizabeth Calvin is a seasoned advocate in children's rights, currently serving as a Senior Advocate in the Children's Rights Division at Human Rights Watch since January 2006. Elizabeth's work centers on addressing the challenges faced by children, youth, and young adults within the juvenile and criminal justice systems through policy and legal advocacy. Additionally, Elizabeth is an Adjunct Professor at USC Gould School of Law, teaching a Legislative Policy Practicum that involves law students and incarcerated individuals in real-world advocacy. As the founding Executive Director of TeamChild from 1995 to 2002, Elizabeth established a pivotal legal services organization focused on youth rights. Elizabeth has also held positions as a lecturer and consultant for various organizations and served as a Commissioner on the Washington State Sentencing Guidelines Commission. Elizabeth holds a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law and a B.A. in Political Studies and Sociology from Whitworth University.
