Ken Powers

Ken Powers has over 12 years of work experience. Ken began their career in 2008 as a Lead Web Developer at Northampton High School. In 2010, they became a Technology Administrator at Big Y Foods, Inc, where they created stored procedures for Microsoft SQL Server and an internal web application. In 2012, they worked as a Smarter Cities Technical COOP and an Extreme Blue Technical Intern at IBM, where they led a team of software developers and business people to create a mobile application development solution. In 2016, they became a Software Engineer at Candescent Health, where they worked with React, Redux, Vue, Angular, Node, PHP, MySQL, and Docker. In 2017, they became a Front End Lead at Shift, where they worked with React, Redux, Electron, and modern JavaScript (TypeScript, Flow, JSX). In 2019, they became a Desktop Developer at Signal Messenger, where they worked with React, Redux, Electron, and TypeScript with legacy and modern features. In 2020, they became a Senior Software Engineer at Hummingbird, where they worked with React, Apollo, TypeScript, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and Ruby on Rails, as well as extensively with ElasticSearch and managed AWS infrastructure across multiple environments using Terraform.

Ken Powers completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 2011 to 2013. Ken also obtained an Associate of Science (AS) in Computer Science from Springfield Technical Community College from 2009 to 2011. Additionally, they have a Triplebyte Certified Frontend Engineer (Top 10%) certification from Triplebyte, obtained in June 2020.
