Joseph V. Carmichael

Joseph V. (Josh) Carmichael currently serves as a Clinical Staff Chaplain in the Department of Pastoral Care at DCH Health System, overseeing two hospital floors and the Cancer Treatment Center since March 2023. Additionally, Carmichael is a Pastor at First Presbyterian Church and a Faculty Member at Birmingham Theological Seminary, teaching various theological courses since 2014. With experience as Interim Director of Pastoral Care at Brookwood Baptist Health and previous roles in chaplaincy, education, and ministry, Carmichael has a diverse background in spiritual care and academic instruction. Carmichael holds a Ph.D. in Church History from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and multiple degrees in theology and business, complemented by significant clinical pastoral education.
