Lucia Tonachel

Lucia Tonachel is an experienced professional with a diverse background in outdoor education and management. Currently serving as the Global Outreach & Fellowship Manager and Project Manager at Essmart since September 2019, Lucia has also been an Instructor at Hurricane Island Outward Bound School since May 2018, where responsibilities include designing and leading wilderness courses and managing logistics for a commercial kitchen. Previous roles include Ski Instructor at Sunday River Skiway, Teacher at Grinnell College Laboratory Preschool, and Senior Intern for the Grinnell College Innovator for Social Justice Prize. Lucia co-founded the Grinnell High School Student Resource Center, contributed as an intern at Essmart, and worked as a Cabin Counselor at Camp Akeela. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Global Development Studies from Grinnell College.
