Lorna Macleod has extensive experience in the non-profit sector, specifically in the areas of education and women's empowerment. In 1986, they founded AmericaShare, an organization that aims to provide quality education for orphans and vulnerable children, as well as create business opportunities for women. Lorna also established a community center in Nairobi, which serves as a hub for educational and recreational activities. In 2008, they founded Huru International, a non-profit organization focused on keeping girls in school by providing high-quality reusable sanitary pads and educational workshops on menstrual health, reproductive health, and gender-based violence. Overall, Lorna Macleod's work experience highlights their commitment to improving the lives of marginalized communities, particularly women and children.

Lorna Macleod completed their MS in Social Work from New York University in 1994. Prior to that, they obtained a BA in Marketing & Advertising from the Fashion Institute of Technology between 1980 and 1984.
