Valerie Sauda

Chief Nurse Adminstrator at Husson University

Valerie Sauda has a diverse work experience, primarily in the field of nursing education and geriatrics. Valerie has been a Board Member for the United Cerebral Palsy of Maine and the Elder Abuse Institute of Maine since 2023. At Husson University, they have held multiple roles, including Associate Professor since 2022, Undergraduate Director and Interim Undergraduate Coordinator since 2018, Assistant Professor from 2014 to 2022, and Adjunct Clinical Faculty from 2013 to 2014. Valerie has also served as the Chief Nurse Administrator at Husson University School of Nursing since 2019. Valerie has been involved in various leadership roles in organizations such as the Maine Geriatrics Conference, The Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma Theta Tau International), the Maine Gerontological Society, and the Eastern Maine Chapter of NGNA. Additionally, Valerie has worked as a Geriatric Nurse Service Instructor at Rosscare and served as the Region 15 Coordinator for Sigma Theta Tau International.

Valerie Sauda has an extensive education history. Valerie obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology, General from the University of Southern Maine from 1983 to 1987. Valerie continued their education at the same institution and earned a Master of Science degree in Nursing from 1990 to 1992. Valerie then pursued an Interdisciplinary PhD in Nursing and Education from the University of Maine between 2015 and 2019. In addition to their academic achievements, they have obtained several certifications, including Restorative Justice Training I: Community Circle Participation from Husson University in January 2023 and ANCC certification in Gerontological nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Valerie was also recognized as an Oral Presenter at the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Convention in 2021.
