Nicola Hill has a diverse and extensive work experience in the legal field. Nicola began their career at Wragge & Co LLP, where they worked as a Senior Intellectual Property Associate for 6 years. During their time there, they primarily focused on contentious intellectual property (IP) matters, including hard and soft IP disputes. Nicola also handled some non-contentious work related to licenses, assignments, due diligence, and sponsorship agreements.

In 2006, Nicola joined Gilbert + Tobin as an IP Lawyer before transitioning to Aristocrat as the Group Counsel. At Aristocrat, they managed the commercial legal team and external legal providers across Australasia and Europe. Their responsibilities included preparing the annual budget, risk management reporting, and implementing legal strategies. Nicola provided legal guidance on a wide range of issues such as commercial litigation, Corporations Act advice, joint ventures, intellectual property matters, employment, property and insurance issues, and trade practices act advice.

After their time at Aristocrat, Nicola worked briefly at Maddocks as a Commercial/IP Lawyer before joining Browne Jacobson LLP. At Browne Jacobson, they specialized in intellectual property disputes and agreements, with a particular focus on copyright, trademarks, designs, and patents. Nicola also had a special interest in advising clients on intellectual property issues in the art and design field. Nicola remained at Browne Jacobson until January 2018 when they joined Huthwaite International as the General Counsel.

In 2019, Nicola expanded their expertise beyond the legal field and became a Board Member and Trustee at SITE GALLERY (MEDIA, ART, PHOTOGRAPHY) LTD.

Nicola Hill has a diverse educational background. Nicola started their education at the University of Wales, Cardiff in 1992 and graduated in 1998 with an LLB degree in Law & French Joint Honours. In 1995 and 1996, they attended Université de Picardie Jules Verne in Amiens, where they obtained a Diplome D'Etudes Juridiques Francaises in French Law. Later, in 2002 and 2003, Nicola pursued further studies at the University of Bristol and obtained a Diploma in Intellectual Property in the field of Intellectual Property Law. In 2009, they enrolled at the National Art School in Sydney, Australia and completed their Bachelor's degree in Fine Art in 2012.
