Paulus Merks has extensive experience in tax law, serving as a Partner at HVK Stevens since January 2022 and previously at Houthoff from January 2018 to January 2022. Prior to these roles, Paulus held various Partner positions at DLA Piper across multiple locations, including Amsterdam and New York, from 2007 to 2017. Additionally, Paulus contributed to academia as a Docent in international and EU tax law and corporate tax at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam from 2003 to 2006. Early in the career, Paulus was a Senior Manager at Ernst & Young in San Jose and worked as a Manager at the Dutch Tax Desk in Chicago. Education includes an LL.M. in US Tax from the University of San Francisco and a degree from the University of Amsterdam.
