Karen Hutson has a diverse work experience, starting with their most recent role as the Owner of The Water Street Cafe. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Special Education and Director of the Federal Program at Hyde County School District. Karen also owned and operated their own business called The Working Woman's Wife, LLC. Additionally, Karen has held various roles in education, including Resource Teacher at Guilford County Schools and Special Education Inclusion Teacher at Winston Salem/Forsyth County Schools. Karen Hutson has an extensive education history. In 1979, they received a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Sociology from Georgia Southern University. In 1997, they furthered their education by obtaining a Master's degree in Special Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In 2015, Karen earned a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Executive Leadership and School Administration Certification from Gardner-Webb University. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Special Education Administration and Special Education - Cross-Categorical K-12 from NCDPI.
