Pooyan Kheirkhah has been working in the engineering field since 2011. Pooyan began their career as a Researcher at the Vehicle, Fuel, and Environment Research Institute in 2011. In 2012, they started working as a Graduate Research Assistant (MSc. and Ph.D.) and Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of British Columbia. In 2020, they joined Hydra Energy as a Powertrain R&D Engineer (EIT) and Engine and exhaust aftertreatment systems engineer (EIT). In this role, they modified a portable emissions measurement system (PEMS) for measuring the concentrations of carbon dioxide and particulate matter (PM) in order to characterize the exhaust emissions from a dual-fuel diesel-hydrogen class-8 truck during real-world on-road operation. This enabled Hydra Energy Co. to showcase the environmental benefits of their technology and improve their dual-fuel engine calibration.
Pooyan Kheirkhah obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tehran in 2012. Pooyan then pursued a Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia, which they completed in 2015. Finally, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 2020.
