Sedat Akkaya

Sedat Akkaya is an experienced project controls professional with a diverse background in capital project management across various industries. Currently serving as the Director of Project Controls at Hydro One since June 2024, responsibilities include governance, capital cost estimating, risk management, and portfolio analytics. Prior to this role, Sedat was the Head of the Project Management Office for Engineering and Construction at the Toronto Transit Commission from April 2019 to June 2024, overseeing a range of capital project functions. A solid foundation in project controls was further established through roles at Suncor, Rio Tinto, and Bantrel, contributing to major projects like the Fort Hills Oil Sand Mine. Sedat holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from Istanbul Technical University and has pursued additional leadership and management education at prestigious institutions including Harvard Business School.
