Willem van der Merwe

Willem is a Scheme Actuary with over 20 years of experience advising trustees, covering: funding, solvency, legislative change, trustees training, and governance. Willem’s current clients include financial services sector schemes, who value his eye for detail. Many of his clients focus on strategies for hedging and managing the impact of members taking their options at retirement.

Since joining Hymans Robertson in 2014, Willem has been the primary support on multiple expert witness cases where justification of approach is key and robust challenge is the norm. Willem also volunteers as an investigating actuary for disciplinary cases by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
