Kevin Carstens has a diverse work experience in the software engineering field. Kevin started their career at Provinzial Konzern, where they worked as an Integrated Student for Applied Computer Science. After gaining knowledge in the insurance business, they developed batch-processing software in COBOL on an IBM mainframe.

Kevin then joined Hypixel Inc as a Software Engineer, where they became a founding member of the Hytale R&D project. Kevin played a crucial role in designing systems and influencing the product and technical vision, with a focus on moddability and user-generated content.

Following that, Kevin joined Hypixel Studios as a Senior Software Engineer, contributing to the PC-based game engine using Java and C#. Kevin also acted as a mentor and hiring manager, playing a pivotal role in the growth of the company. Kevin later became the Lead Engineer and Interim CTO, overseeing the studio and representing technical subjects to internal and external stakeholders during the company's reorganization and pivot towards a multi-platform release.

Throughout their career, Kevin has demonstrated strong technical expertise and leadership skills, making significant contributions to the development of games and the growth of the companies they worked for.

Kevin Carstens attended Alexander von Humboldt-Gymnasium, Neumünster from 2011 to 2014, where they completed their Abitur with a focus on natural sciences. Then, from 2015 to 2019, they pursued their studies in Informatik at Kiel University.
