Charlie Gu

Charlie Gu has a diverse and extensive work experience in the legal field. Charlie currently serves as the Senior Legal Director at I-Mab Biopharma since August 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Sidley Austin LLP as a Senior Associate from October 2020 to August 2021 and as an Associate from October 2018 to September 2020. Charlie also held the role of Senior Associate, Registered Foreign Lawyer (New York, USA) at Sidley Austin LLP from November 2016 to October 2018.

Before joining Sidley Austin LLP, Charlie worked at Clifford Chance as an Associate, Registered Foreign Lawyer (New York, USA), where they advised Chinese corporate clients on public takeover offers in Hong Kong and Hong Kong listed companies on private mergers and acquisitions.

Charlie's legal career began at Linklaters, where they served as an Associate from July 2008 to August 2013. Charlie advised U.S. and European investors on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, and real estate transactions in China. Charlie also provided legal guidance to large scale Chinese enterprises on outbound investments and post-listing compliance under the Hong Kong Listing Rules. Additionally, they worked as a Legal Researcher at Linklaters from July 2007 to June 2008.

Charlie Gu graduated with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Corporate Law and Business from Stanford Law School in 2014. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Law - Criminal Procedural Law from East China University of Political Science and Law in 2008 and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in Law - International Economic Law from the same university in 2005. They also hold additional certifications, including being a Licensed Attorney for the State Bar of California since 2017 and for the New York State Bar Association since 2015. In 2009, they obtained a Certificate of Accounting Professional of the People's Republic of China, and in 2006, they obtained the Legal Profession Qualification of the People's Republic of China.
