Opportunity 

As a Remote UK based Cloud Engineer, you will be at the cutting edge of technology, delivering complex solutions to ensure our platform remains secure, available, and high-performing.

Role 

You will be a crucial member of our Cloud Platform Engineering Team. You will be instrumental in optimising, and maintaining automation standards, ensuring seamless deployment and management of resources across our GCP Platform.

You will be working with:

  • GCP Cloud Platforms
  • Terraform
  • Cloud Native Platforms/Environments
  • Kubernetes (building clusters, not just consuming and deploying)
  • AWS and Azure Cloud Platforms
  • Automation Standards

The Cloud Engineer role demands deployment, management and optimisation of a containerised platform ensuring maximum uptime, performance, and scalability, for delivery of fuel into multiple major airlines across the globe. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and provisions a wide range of tools, services, and cloud platform solutions from CI/CD to Compute Orchestration

  • Work closely with the engineering team to ensure that tech development and delivery is implemented to specification and of sound quality

  • Work in an Agile team, contributing to typical agile ceremonies, such as Sprint Planning, Team Retros, Team Demos with a shared work ethic

Person 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive operational experience of working within Google Cloud Platforms (GCP)

  • Wide ranging operational experience with Container technologies (GKE, EKS, ECS, Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Good operational experience and understanding of Infrastructure as Code, most notably Terraform

  • Recent experience using CI/CD frameworks and implementing best practices.

  • Significant experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, or any other suitable development languages

  • Proficiency in Linux Systems Administration and Operations

  • Conceptual knowledge of AWS & Azure Cloud Platform

  • Conceptual knowledge of Infrastructure Services, DNS, SSL, Load Balancing, TCP/IP, VPNs, Proxies

If you also have the following experience, then you may be the person we need: 

  • Strong diagnostic/troubleshooting skills for complex enterprise systems

  • Able to quickly learn and work with new languages and technologies

  • Ability to build strong, collaborative working relationships with peers, managers and both internal and external customers

  • Open attitude to sharing ideas, knowledge, and information to both technical and non-technical people

  • Can work in a demanding, fast-paced environment

  • UK based and happy to be remote, occasionally meeting up with team members in one of our office hubs in either Farnborough, Manchester or Birmingham

  • On call every 4-6 weeks for out of hours system support (paid overtime)
