Viskam Wijewardana

Viskam Wijewardana is an experienced Animal Health Officer at the IAEA since August 2015, specializing in nuclear-related immunological and molecular diagnostics, vaccine development, and technical guideline formulation. Viskam has held academic positions as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Peradeniya and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, as well as a Research Fellow at Osaka Prefecture University, focusing on dendritic cell-based immunotherapy for canine cancer. Previous roles include Post Doctoral Associate positions at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, investigating SIV infection and its implications for HIV/AIDS vaccine development. Viskam's educational qualifications include a PhD in Immunology from Osaka Prefecture University, a BVSc in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Peradeniya, and a Diploma in Japanese Language and Culture from Osaka University.
