Nina Döring joined the Arctic Governance Group as Co-Research Group Leader in June 2020. Her research focuses on public participation, extractive resource management, anticipation, and change in the Arctic. She is also particularly interested in research ethics and Indigenous rights. She is co-leading the project on marine conservation in the Arctic and is working on a project on climate engineering in the Arctic.
Following her studies in International Economics and Development at the University of Bayreuth and the University of Oxford, she completed a Dphil (PhD) at the University of Oxford's School of Geography and the Environment. For her dissertation, she carried out research in west Greenland over a period of nine months in 2015/16.

The Institute’s central research topics are global sustainability policy and new governance models, especially with regard to democratic institutions and decision-making processes, innovative solutions for future energy systems, sustainable resource consumption, and the challenges facing our Earth system as a result of climate change and air pollution.
