John Condon

SVP, Business Transformation at IAT Insurance Group

John Condon is currently the SVP of Business Transformation at IAT Insurance Group. Prior to this, they served as the Executive Director of Enterprise/ Business Architecture at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma & Texas from August 2015 to May 2016. In this role, they reported to the Chief Technology Officer and was responsible for enterprise architecture, business architecture, portfolio planning, and overall organizational effectiveness of the architecture function as the organization transitioned to a business-driven architecture mindset. John managed a team of 9 Enterprise Architects focused on planning, designing, and implementing technology solutions and investments to enable core business functions and strategies. The team's responsibilities were focused heavily on the business architecture domain, but they were also ultimately responsible for all architecture domains (data, infrastructure, integration, application, security, & user experience) across a yearly transformational investment portfolio of $300M. John was responsible for team building, organizational design, organizational effectiveness, architecture/ IT engagement model, and culture shift of a very large organization during a time of significant organizational and business change.

During their time at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma & Texas, John Condon refined and improved the end to end strategic planning process across corporate, business, and IT strategic planning. John also improved the project/ program estimation process accuracy by identifying an opportunity to tie estimation to a clearly aligned architecture approach. Additionally, they led the architecture function through a transition of engagement models for alternative delivery methodologies such as optimized waterfall, agile/ scrum, and extreme programming (XP). John Condon championed a new business-driven architecture mindset focused on making value-driven recommendations based on clear options and trade-off analysis, as well as early collaboration and alignment across solution stakeholders. John also led architecture analysis of when and how to leverage new and innovative technologies appropriately - such as Data Lake, Big Data, Hadoop, No SQL, Object Grid, APIs, micro-services, cloud technologies, etc. For their leadership provided to an “outstanding transformational team” at HCSC IT , they received the “5-Star Award”.

John Condon's educational career includes a BS in Business - Computer Information Systems from Indiana University - Kelley School of Business.

John Condon reports to Bill Cunningham, CEO. They work with John Passaro - EVP, Management Liability, Bill Teed - SVP, Talent & Leadership Development, and Trent Haas - Chief Claims Officer.
