Gonzalo Saenz de Miera has a diverse work experience in energy and sustainability. Gonzalo worked at Iberdrola as the Director of Climate Change and Alliances at the Chairman's Area, where they led activities related to climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies, policy research, and building alliances with international energy and climate groups. Gonzalo also held positions at Grupo Español para el Crecimiento Verde as the President and Vice President of the Spanish Green Growth Group, and at GLOBAL CORPORATE LEADERS GROUP as the Vice-President of the Corporate Leaders Group. Additionally, they were a Member of the Board of Advisors at BirdLife International and the Founder of the initiative Dialogues on Energy and Sustainability at Diálogos de Energía y Sostenibilidad. Gonzalo served as the Vice President of the Spanish Association of Energy Economics and was the Director of the Master on the Spanish Energy Sector at Club Español de la Energía. Gonzalo also worked at Economics for Energy as a board member. Earlier in their career, they held positions at Iberdrola as the Director of Prospective Regulation and at Iberdrola Renovables as the Head of the Prospective Department.
Gonzalo Saenz de Miera received a PhD in Applied Economics from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in the years 1995 to 1999. In addition, they obtained an MSc in International Political Economy from the University of Warwick - Warwick Business School in 1995 to 1996. More recently, in the year 2007 to 2008, they completed the Management Development Program (PDD) at IESE Business School. Finally, in 2014, they attended IMD for a Strategic Leadership program focused on Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Law.
