Policy and Planning Coordinator (NOAA CO-OPS) at IBSS

Jay Dawsey has a work experience spanning from 2015 to the present. In 2022, they joined IBSS as a Policy and Planning Coordinator, where they coordinate and assists in developing subject-matter briefings, tracks strategic goals, and serves as an information liaison. Prior to that, they worked as an Assistant Program Director at Catalina Island Marine Institute from 2021 to 2022. From 2020 to 2021, they worked as a Survey Technician at SOLMAR HYDRO INC. In 2019, they had multiple roles, including Gear Manager & Public Outreach Coordinator at the University of Miami - Shark Research and Conservation Program and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician at Innovasea. Jay also worked as a Marine Science Instructor at Catalina Island Marine Institute from 2017 to 2018. Jay's work experience began in 2015 as a Research Intern at Bimini Biological Field Station Foundation.

Jay Dawsey's education history begins in 2013 when they attended Coastal Carolina University. Jay completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Sciences in 2016.

In 2019, Jay enrolled in the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric and Earth Science. Jay pursued a Master of Professional Science degree in Marine Conservation, which they completed in 2020.

In addition to their academic achievements, Jay has obtained several certifications. In March 2017, they earned the Divemaster (DM) certification from PADI. Jay also holds a Motorboat Operator Certificate from the U.S. Department of the Interior, obtained in October 2019. Furthermore, Jay has certifications in CPR/AED/First Aid from both the Diver's Alert Network (DAN) and the American Red Cross, which they obtained in December 2019 and May 2017, respectively. Lastly, Jay holds the Scientific Diver certification from the American Academy of Underwater Sciences, obtained in December 2019.
