Icahn School of Medicine
James Tsai currently serves as the Founding Director of the Center for Ophthalmic Artificial Intelligence and Human Health (COAIHH) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai since July 2023. Previously, Tsai held the position of President of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and Health System Chair of Ophthalmology at the Icahn School of Medicine and Mount Sinai Health System, roles assumed in September 2014. From October 2006 to August 2014, Tsai was the Robert R. Young Professor and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at Yale University School of Medicine, also serving as Chief of Ophthalmology at Yale-New Haven Hospital during that time. Prior experience includes serving as Associate Professor and Director of the Glaucoma Division at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, and as Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Tsai's education includes an M.D. from Stanford University School of Medicine, as well as multiple fellowships and degrees in business and ophthalmology.
