Michael Stanton

Michael Stanton is the Managing Director, Deputy General Counsel and Head of Private Funds Legal at iCapital Network. Michael has held this position since July 2015.

Prior to joining iCapital Network, Mr. Stanton was the Chief Compliance Officer and Associate General Counsel at DeMatteo Monness LLC from July 2011 to July 2015. DeMatteo Monness LLC is a SEC and FINRA regulated mid-sized institutional brokerage firm focused on hedge fund, mutual fund and investment advisor clients with offices in New York and Boston. As the head of the compliance department, Mr. Stanton was responsible for coordinating all supervisory activities, regulatory reporting and filings on behalf of the firm as well as counseling senior management on a wide range of legal and regulatory issues affecting the firm.

From January 2008 to August 2010, Mr. Stanton worked as an attorney at Toomey & Yudysky where they represented and counseled clients in connection with all aspects of commercial, construction and insurance litigation matters.

Mr. Stanton began their career as a legal intern at the Broome County Attorney's Office from May 2006 to September 2006. Michael then interned at BAE Systems from May 2005 to September 2005.

Michael Stanton has a J.D. from Boston University School of Law and a B.A. in Psychology from Binghamton University.

Michael Stanton reports to Lawrence Calcano, Chairman & CEO. Michael Stanton works with Dan Vene - Co-Founder & Managing Partner, Head of iCapital Marketplace, Alexander Gurevich - Managing Director, Private Capital Funds, and Robert Worthington - Managing Director, Independent Wealth Solutions.
