James H. Sills is secretary of the Independent Community Bankers of America® (ICBA), the only national organization that exclusively represents community banks.
He also serves as president and CEO of Mechanics and Farmers Bank in Durham, N.C.
Sills serves in many roles at ICBA. He is a member of the ICBA Executive Committee, board of directors and Federal Delegate Board. He also serves on ICBA’s Policy Development and ThinkTECH Selection committees and is Executive Committee liaison to the Cyber and Data Security and Legislative Issues committees.
Sills serves on the board for the National Bankers Association and is the immediate past chairman of the North Carolina Bankers Association. He also serves on the Federal Reserve Board of Richmond and chairs its Audit and Risk Committee. He currently serves on the Executive Committee and is the DEI chairman for the North Carolina State Chamber. He also serves on the Board of Visitors for North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and North Carolina Central University.
Sills has a Bachelor of Arts from Morehouse College, a master's degree in public administration from the University of Pittsburgh and he is also a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Banking.
