Nathaniel Rice has a wide range of work experience. From 2021 to present, they have been a Scientist and Associate Scientist at IconOVir Bio, where they are the project lead assessing immunogenicity of lead drug candidates both in vitro and in vivo. Nathaniel has also designed, dose prepared, and analyzed pre-clinical in vivo studies, as well as performed tissue homogenization, DNA isolation, and ddPCR analysis on ex-vivo samples to assess kinetics of viral therapies in support of drug development and IND submission. From 2018 to 2021, they were a Senior Research Associate I and Research Associate at Kite Pharma, where they worked with a cross-functional research team to advance the development of cell therapy products. Nathaniel designed and coordinated in vivo studies to assess the efficacy of cell therapy products, and performed in vitro and ex vivo analysis including FACS, ddPCR, Luminex, and other luminescence based assays. From 2015 to 2018, they were a Quality Control Specialist Bioassay, Senior Manufacturing Operations Associate, and Manufacturing Operations Associate at Dendreon. In this role, they operated and processed Provenge, the first autologous cellular immunotherapy for cancer treatment, worked with other Cell Processing Associates utilizing good manufacturing practices (cGMP's) and standard operating procedures (SOP's) during aseptic processing of clinical and commercial products, trained fellow associates in numerous process related skills and techniques, and reviewed batch records insuring the proper use of Good Documentation Practices (GDP). In 2014, they were an Intern at Motus Global and a Tennis Instructor/Coach at Tennis with Coach Paula. From 2012 to 2014, they were a Graduate Research Assistant at Arnold School of Public Health, where they coordinated Activity Monitor Team, scheduled and coordinated participant visits for multiple studies, conducted exercise stress testing using 12 lead EKG for clinical studies and assisted with exercise training, calculated and analyzed metabolic testing and Dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry results obtained from testing, conducted data analysis using standard biological and biochemical assessment procedures (SDS-PAGE, western blotting, histology, spectrophotometry, ELISA), assisted with the maintenance of an animal colony, and coordinated with IRB and SCHSSCA to compile a large data set for use in research studies. In 2011, they were an Intern at Kondyles Chiropractic, where they performed therapies on patients for chiropractor such as Ultrasound, EMS, and Traction table, developed and maintained practice website, and assisted with patient scheduling and insurance verification. From 2008 to 2011, they were a Human Resources Assistant at Berry College.
