Alana Tholen

Alana Tholen, PhD, currently serves as the Regional Director of College Success at IDEA Public Schools since November 2022, following her role as Director of College Counseling at KIPP Texas Public Schools from May 2019 to November 2022. Alana has extensive experience in educational settings, including positions as Assistant Principal of Instruction and AP Statistics Instructor at KIPP Texas Public Schools, and as an Adjunct Professor at Austin Community College from August 2020 to November 2022. Previous roles include Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Iowa, Math Teacher at Saint Louis Park Public Schools, Upward Bound Instructor at The University of Iowa, and Math Lab Technician at Kirkwood Community College. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Mathematics Teacher Education and a MA in Mathematics Education, both from the University of Iowa, and a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Coe College.
